All about RhythmRealm

Our ambitions
and aspirations :

"Hip Hop is a beautiful culture. It's inspirational because it is a culture of survivors. You can create beauty out of nothingness"
-Mos Def

We at RhythmRealm believe Hip-hop is not something that is geographic or belongs to a single nation, skin colour or ethnicity. It is a culture that stems against centuries of oppression and its global impact somehow helps voice the oppressed in every nation to this day.

Hip-hop has been in the streets of India for decades and yet we are only acknowledging the culture recently. Although we envision the culture in our own way, it’s history remains significant.

We don't just dance, we express, we are the voice of the people that aren't heard. We perform to create a change.

B-Boy Ace

This hardworking individual started his dance journey at a tender age and has kept moving forward with it ever since.

Growing up in the bustling city

of Mumbai, Ace has known the undiscovered culture of the youngsters of India.

However, moving away from Mumbai during the pandemic, he was astonished at the unexplored potential and talent in the youngsters of smaller cities as well. Watching the youth fight their own battles, being unable to speak up and take a stand for things that need to change, Ace decided to give them a space for expression in the only form he has known: dance.

RhythmRealm was created with the objective to use online methods to reach people far and wide in India, to enlighten youngsters about the culture that formed from people who once suffered extreme exploitation and racism-driven oppression, much like those of India.

When we teach of this culture, we are not only teaching how to dance but also paying homage to the overcoming of some of the darkest times in modern history. We spread an insight into history, postcolonial African- American culture, and how it works as a form of subaltern voice, all through music and dance.
